Jude Groves, HSE Director for Diversified Transportation Receives Alberta Motor Transport Association Safety Person of the Year Award
(Fort McMurray, Alberta) – Mark Hannah, Vice President Oil Sands, Diversified Transportation Ltd. is pleased to announce that Jude Groves, Director, Health, Safety and Environment has been named the Alberta Motor Transport Association Safety Person of the Year for 2013.
The announcement was made by Brian Bell, AMTA Director, Safety and Operations. In making his announcement Mr. Bell thanked Jude for all his efforts and hard work he has contributed to the AMTA. Selection of the Safety Person of the Year was made by the IRTAC (Injury Reduction Training Advisory Council, which is the Industry Safety Division). The award was presented to Mr. Groves at the AMTA’s 26th Annual Conference in Banff.
In response to Mr. Groves’ selection as the Safety Person of the Year, Hannah noted “I am very proud of Jude’s achievement. It’s very well deserved. He is a dedicated safety professional and continues to be an exceptional leader in advancing safety throughout the entire Diversified organization. Jude’s reaction has been grateful but modest. “I’m humbled by being named Safety Person of the Year and the recognition I have received from the industry, fellow employees, colleagues and the community is certainly heartfelt.
I would like to thank Diversified, who has supported my participation with the Alberta Motor Transportation Association and has encouraged me to take an active role in the industry with the goal of improving our safety success and creating a safe environment for our employees, our passengers and the public.

Jude also serves as the representative for the Fort McMurray Region. He has been an active member since 2009, joining the AMTA Board in 2011 and in May 2012, he was elected to serve a three year term.
